Building Valuable Content for Higher Page Rank

In this chapter, we are going to discuss how to increase your PageRank and authority on the Web by creating high-value content. After all, there are hundreds of millions of websites that fight for the top positions on Google – how can you distinguish yourself from them? How do you stand out in the crowd?

It does not matter if you have an old site or a new one – the important thing is to focus single-mindedly on the content. Yes, content is the prima donna of Google, there is nothing more important to Google than content. Great content makes the Web a more valuable resource.

But there is a way to write great content. You cannot just put together whatever is on your mind and hope for it to tank higher on Google. Sure, there are authority sites who can do that –but for most of us, we really have to work hard on the content to build our PageRank and get higher on Google’s SERPs.

Now, even if you have an authority site, your content should still be quite valuable. No website that publishes low quality content can become an authority in its niche. The content has to be original, unique, grammatically correct and informative.

We will reveal the various techniques that you will need to follow to write great content, one that is considered valuable by Google. We will talk about how to optimize your content for the search engines. To start with, just write informative content based on interesting topics.

Your content should be well researched and target a specific niche. It should be something people would want to read and search for. And yes, it should be relevant. Relevant is the buzzword here.

You cannot, for example, give relationship advice on technology blog, or talk about politics on a gardening blog!  Your content should be specific to the niche that you are writing it for.

In fact, Google loves websites that focus on a specific niche. Google doesn’t like it too much when a website or blog talks about topics that are different from their niche and punishes such websites when they veer off course.

The important thing on Google is to build your authority within your niche – the operative word here is “niche” – remember that, and never go outside of that. Be the master of one small thing rather than trying to do too many things at once.

So, let’s talk about how to brainstorm for topics. When you run a website of your own, you will have to do juggle many balls in the air, such as the web design, content creation, social media, marketing and much more. So, even if you are a web designer or a marketer and have never written an article or a blog before; pay attention all the same.

Take out a notepad; write about the things you know about your niche that you can share with your readers. What will your target audience, the people in your niche, like? Think what you know that they may not have known about already; think of topics that haven’t been beaten to death in your niche. Remember, your goal is to add something interesting, informative and unique to the World Wide Web. What can that be?

Once you have thought of the topics, it’s time to get writing.  When you write, make sure that your content is error free. By error free, we mean it should be factually correct and grammatically right as well. If not you will get penalized by Google. Yes, Google has very sophisticated tools that allow it to monitor the content on all websites for their uniqueness and quality.

So, work hard on your content, make it something great. It should be something you would be proud to show to your friends and family. Your content should be valuable to your audience, solve a problem, fulfil a need or answer a question. And, I stress on this point, it should add value to the World Wide Web.
